With the kitchen being the heart of your home, this kind of transformation affects the entire family in a positive way.
Painting your kitchen cabinets is much more affordable than replacing them. A fresh coat of paint in a new colour changes the whole space! It’s also faster than replacing the cabinets and doesn’t leave any wall damage.
Kitchen cabinet painting is fast! You can start using your kitchen in just a few days and the whole job can usually be done in about a week.
There are countless possibilities when it comes to kitchen cabinet painting and refinishing—and many important decisions to make. Working with our interior designer can help you make those decisions more confidently. For every $5,000 worth of painting services, you’ll receive one complementary hour with our designer to discuss how you can create your dream kitchen.
While we love and specialize in all residential interior painting projects, kitchen cabinet projects are our hands-down favourite. To get the smoothest, most luxuriant finish, we spray kitchen cabinets rather than using a roller or brush (unless you prefer us to use a roller or brush).
Our process includes removing the cabinet doors, which we take to our spray shop. The spray shop allows us to spray the doors in controlled conditions to get the best finish possible.
For the rest of the kitchen cabinets, we set up a temporary spray booth around the cabinetry. This allows us to spray the cabinets without getting paint on anything else. We use paper and plastic to completely protect your countertops and backsplash. We also use a portable on-site exhaust to create a negative pressure booth. This helps eliminate fumes and atomized paint inside the on-site booth and stops anything from escaping.
The shell/bones, doors, and drawers all get filled where needed, sanded, and degreased before any spray work is done. We do everything required for kitchen cabinet painting, like installing soft-close hinges, replacing glass doors, replacing handles/pulls, and making minor alterations to cabinets.
There’s a timeless beauty to stained wood cabinets. Each type of wood, such as oak, walnut, cherry, or maple, has its own unique characteristics. The finish on your cabinets may be showing signs of age, or you might not be happy with the colour and want something that reflects the look you’re trying to achieve. Kitchen cabinet refinishing (staining) is your answer. It’s amazing how new stain and updated hardware can completely transform the look and feel of your kitchen.
Consider getting your cabinets refinished if you:
There are countless possibilities when it comes to kitchen cabinet refinishing—and many important decisions to make. Some of today’s more popular colours are black, grey, or dark or natural tones. But we can stain your cabinets in virtually any colour and finish you desire. Working with our interior designer can help you make those decisions more confidently.
Staining or re-staining your kitchen cabinets can give your kitchen the custom look you’re after. It changes the whole space.
Every project is unique so we always use a variety of methods and materials to get the perfect finish for your project.
Depending on the desired finish, we use either a wipe or spray technique. The only time we use a brush is when we’re creating certain effects, like antiquing. The more popular requests are a shadow or a wipe stain, or a combination of both.

There are many different products and methods that we can use to achieve the required colour and finish for your cabinets. Some woods require multiple products because of the way the grain takes stain. Other products pop the grain and may be more suitable for the look you want.
To achieve a dark tone (sometimes referred to as a black out effect), we use either:
Then we apply our sealers and clear coats. For a raw wood appearance, we use toners that give a natural finish. For certain finishes, we use mineral paint which is becoming quite popular. Mineral paint preserves the wood and creates a refined, uniform, durable, and water-resistant finish. For the protective coat, we use polyurethanes or clear or solid lacquers. Lacquers allow for different degrees of sheen—flat, matte, satin, or semi-gloss.
We use a polyurethane protective coat in areas that might come into contact with water, like a wood countertop near a sink. Lacquer can delaminate over time when exposed to moisture or heat. We don’t polyurethane kitchen cabinets because lacquer has a more luxurious finish. However, on a countertop, because of the angle, the difference between the two isn’t very noticeable. All our interior industrial wood finishes are from boutique suppliers that specialize in interior wood finishes.
Our job is to achieve the colour and finish you envision. We’ll ask for your input on the colour, depth, and tone as we progress with the job, and we’ll prepare samples for you and get your sign off once you’re satisfied. We’ll ask you to check the work while our temporary spray booth is set up, and whether there are any areas you’d like us to spray out. If there’s anything too dark, we’ll take it down to bare wood and start from scratch again.
Yes, we’re perfectionists, but you wouldn’t expect any less from us, would you?
